- Before you leave your driveway, make sure you have enough gas in your vehicle to drive the whole route. State Route 3 is one of the longest roads in northern California, so make sure your gas tank is full.
- Be careful when driving on State Route 3. This highway has a lot of twists and turns.
- Take State Route 299 to Weaverville.
- Turn left onto State Route 3. Continue until you reach Gazelle Callahan Road.
- Turn left at Gazelle Callahan Road. Continue on State Route 3 to Etna.
- Turn right and continue on State Route 3 to Fort Jones.
- Continue straight to Yreka.

- If you'd like, stop at the turnouts and look at the pretty scenery and take pictures.
Warnings
- Be careful while driving on this highway. Don't go any faster than the sign says around the curves or you will end up rolling down the steep hills.
