Dunk off of Two Feet

Being able to dunk a ball is a spectacular ability in basketball. However, dunks off of one foot put you at a risk of being easily knocked off balance. The dunk of two feet helps to maintain balance and show off your jumping ability

Steps

  1. Approach the basket from a distance that you feel comfortable with. It can be advantageous to approach the rim from the side opposite your dominate hand, thus allowing you to dunk from the front of the rim instead of the side.
  2. Once you have enough momentum, if needed, pick up the ball about 2 steps away from the goal.
  3. To avoid a travelling call, do not take your allowed two steps before attempting to jump. Instead, step in with one foot (practice to determine which you're better with) and bring your following foot right next to it while simultaneously starting to bend down.
  4. By now, you should be about 1 step from the basket with both feet parallel and shoulder length apart. Squat down as far as necessary and explode to the rim.
  5. Once you are sure you're high enough, slam it down.

Tips

  • Use one hand at first, if you can palm a ball, to make it easier to reach high enough.
  • Practice, practice, practice. You need to be able to maintain momentum and balance while coming to a stop, as well as use proper technique.
  • The jump before the jump will determine if you get up high enough to jam the ball. Use the energy from from a hop step or pro hop to explode into your leap.
  • Increase your jumping ability.
  • Really stretch toward the rim.
  • Travel at the right speed to time your jump.

Warnings

  • Be well able to do this before you attempt it in a game; there's nothing worse than getting rim-stuffed.
  • Of course, make sure that you are in proper physical condition to perform this action and exert yourself physically
  • Do not hang on the rim, for this is dangerous and illegal in games.
