Dunk the Egyptian Way

Dunking is an interesting thing to do when playing basketball. Here is how to perform an Egyptian dunk.

Steps

  1. Stand at the half court of a basketball court with the ball in your hands.
  2. Take a sprint up to the free throw line with the ball being dribbled.
  3. Get to the free throw line, and slow down as you take your two steps, right foot followed by left foot if you are right handed, and vice versa. (this way you jump up with the ball in your right hand, jumping off the left foot, gaining a few more inches this way)
  4. Approach above the rim, and quickly turn around so that you are facing the court, and not the backboard.
  5. Slam the ball down with both hands. (you will need to quickly throw your other hand up as it might not be above the rim yet; do this while you are jumping, however.

Tips

  • Practice vertical activities every other day, and rest in between
  • Cardio is essential to improving your dunk because you will be exhausted running up and down the court, and by the time you need to jump you may not have the energy you would have at your resting rate.
  • Practice when alone, not during a match to spare embarrassment
  • Egyptian dunking is a spiritual feeling, as you must be motivated and think ahead of what would happen if and when you do perform it.
  • Use the ball with a grip.

Warnings

  • Don't hang on the rim during a game, that would be called as a technical foul.
  • If you are injured, do not perform this activity.
