- Double-click the cell you would like to edit. The cell is placed in edit mode and the cursor is placed where you double-clicked. - or -
- Press the F2 key on the keyboard. The cursor is placed at the end of the text. - or -
- Click anywhere in the formula bar. The formula bar changes to have an X and check mark.
Tips
- You can tell you are in edit mode in several ways but the easiest way to tell is because the X and the check mark on the formula bar are active.
- To get out of edit mode either click in another cell or press Enter key (for those people who have not edited the behavior of Enter).
- These first two methods work on Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice.org Calc, or Google Spreadsheets. The last method works in Excel and Calc but not Google spreadsheets.
