Execute a 360 Flip on a Skateboard
Are you an intermediate to advanced skateboarder? Would you like to learn a new move that will impress your friends and even strangers? This trick should do it. The 360 flip, often known as a tre-flip, is a flip trick on a skateboard. The board rotates 360 while doing a flip.
Steps
- Know how to do a kickflip and BS Shuvit (Backside Shuvit on a Skateboard). Although many skateboarders learn it without first getting 360-popshoves.
- Place your front foot in kick flip stance, at a 45 degree angle about two or more inches from the front bolts
- Put the ball of your back foot in the curvature of the tail otherwise known as the concave point.
- Tilt your back foot up a little bit; this will help get the spin.
- Pop and spin at the same time, then just kick your front foot forward and out like a kick flip.
- Pop and SCOOP the board. The key to this trick is the scoop. Just try to get underneath the board, but not too much.
- After you scoop the board up, at the same time, flick the board with your foot like you would when doing a kickflip.
- Jump higher than the board by at least two inches.
- Watch carefully and wait for the right moment to land. Wait for the board to come around to the grip tape. People usually don't wait for the griptape they just know the time to catch it.
- Land with your knees bent.
Tips
- You won't get this on your first try. It's a hard trick.
- Try hanging your back foot off the tail a little.
- Try riding to do the trick, it makes it easier to get the rotation and flip.
- Try not to Varial. Varials and 360 flips are totally different!
- Another key to this trick is spreading your feet and trying to kick the board in front of you with your front foot.
- Some people find it easier fakie (going backwards).
- Try starting on a curb, ledge or kicker so you can get enough rotation on your flip. Believe it or not, this helps a lot if you are just learning.
- Try learning fakie bs flip's and regular bs flip's-it helps a lot with the pop, then try fakie big flip's-easier than you think.
- Most people land on the nose after they get it, but if you do, just follow the board; if it goes back, you go back, if it goes in front of you... then jump forward!
- Some people do not get to do a 360 shove-it all the way, and instead just get a pop shove-it and a half, probably because they did not get a good scoop.
- Keep your toes off the board a little in front, this should help the spin (it helped me )
- try some varial kickflips it will help you learn the mechanics of the trick and when you feel you are ready just scoop harder for a 360 spin and do the kickflip and all the other stuff you learned
- Try learning 360 shove-its first.
- Try not too focus on the flip as much as the scoop. (IT'S ALL IN THE SCOOP) You'll understand what that means when you land one. (Some people's front feet do nothing at all.) This allows for a quicker, and more effortless tre flip.
- If your landing on the board and the board is not completing the 360 spin you're not scooping the tail enough.
- This trick is going to take lots of practice. Always wear a helmet and safety gear when riding a skateboard.
Warnings
- it takes a lot of practice so be prepared to fall a few times.
- Jump higher so you don't hit your ankles as the board is spinning
- Tuck your legs up in the jump to avoid the deck hitting your shins.
- keep your legs a little off the board when it spins or be prepared to credit card *Keep the board close to the bottom part to not get hit in the shins. Keep control while flipping.
- It is really hard so don't expect to get it the first time.
