Find Land when Lost at Sea
When lost at sea (swimming) this article will, at least, bring you much closer to surviving than your instincts would. Listen closely, this is information for the preservation of your life.
Steps
- Look all around you and try to find any sign of clouds. Cloud formations often form above land. A giant, puffy cloud is a guarantee of land.
- Swim towards it using the least amount of energy possible, pacing yourself.
- Take periodic breaks [see "Tips"] to recharge energy & temp.
- Stay only on the surface [see "Warnings"].
Tips
- Try using breaststroke to use less energy and really glide a lot.
- When worn out or cold/hot, stop swimming and curl up in a rock-like shape, touching your knees to your head and wrapping your arms around your legs. This is called the HELP position. It helps stabilize your temperature and conserves energy/gives a little bit of rest.
Warnings
- Swim ONLY on the surface! Water spans 2/3 (70-80%) of planet Earth, and 98% of that water is the oceans; don't think nothing lives in it.
- Watch out for massive formations of huge clouds all in one area. THAT would be a hurricane.
Things You'll Need
