Find a Copy of DVD Decrypter
DVD Decrypter is a useful and free utility for ripping DVDs, but is no longer available for new download. Here are some suggestions for how to go about locating a copy.
Steps
- Search Google for DVD Decrypter and explore the links to see if any offer active downloads of the software.
- Ask your tech savvy friends if they use the program and if they could burn you a copy of the software.
- You can also search for it on any P2P programs and/or torrents (less recommended)*
- Or see if it's still available on FileForum.com
Tips
- As always be cautious of viruses and other malicious code in your downloads. The real DVD Decrypter contains no spam, viruses or Trojan horses, but without an official download site you must be careful of what you are getting.
- To find out if your copy is a real copy and not something that has been messed with, right click the exe installation and select properties. The correct installation exe says size 878KB (899,414 bytes).
- Learn the laws and real reasons behind the criminalization of DVD Decrypters. In the US, see the DMCA. Contact your local politicians and help fight Digital Rights Management
Warnings
- Consider the legal status of using the program. Since it was free software, is it illegal to distribute or download?
- Know the intellectual property laws of your country, state, and/or region. It may be illegal to make backups or copies of any protected media.
- Do not use P2P or *.torrent programs for illegal purposes. They are also risky because of malware, spyware, they are not confidential, and they contain many corrupt files. Torrents are typically more credible than P2P; however, It is recommended you search the web first.
