Finish Homework Quickly

Do you want to do something special on the weekend, but homework must be done as well? Maybe you have a job or other activities to get to that are just as important as school. No matter your reason for breezing through homework, it is possible to do. After the jump, read some helpful hints about doing your homework quickly and accurately.

Steps

  1. Plan your weekend in advance.
    • Do homework at school during your lunch period or while in study hall.
    • Notify your friends not to disturb you over the weekend.
  2. Organize a homework schedule for the entire weekend.
    • Estimate the time it will take to complete each subject.
  3. Don't get distracted.
    • Turn off your laptop—if you don't need it for studying—and TV, and put your phone on silent so you are not tempted to look at it while doing homework.
    • Tell your family that you'll be doing homework and need your privacy.
    • If you really need to use your computer/laptop, only go on the sites and programs you need. Remind yourself that you don't need Facebook or Twitter to do homework!
  4. Start your homework on Friday afternoon.
    • Plan to do the harder tasks first and get them out of the way, then you can breeze through the easier ones knowing that the worst is behind you.
    • Have a snack and take a break for supper.
    • Work steadily during the day and get to bed at a reasonable time to keep your mind sharp.
  5. Organize your study area just before going to bed so your won't be faced with a mess first thing in the morning when you resume your work
    • Set your alarm clock to awaken early on Saturday.
  6. Start work in the morning after a good breakfast and perhaps a quick shower.
    • Motivate yourself with thoughts of free time.
    • Ask for help from someone who knows the subject at hand, rather than waste time with a difficult subject.
  7. If time allows, take the entire afternoon and evening off.
  8. Keep your focus going.



Tips

  • Plan ahead. Don't sit there for hours pondering what to put down. Think of what you may want to put down before hand so that when you finally start writing, you can do so fluently as you already have some ideas.
  • Some people find that listening to music helps them stay motivated—Try it! (but listen to songs that do not contain lyrics as human voices distract us.) And remember not to let yourself get distracted.
  • Think about something fun you will do after you are done with homework. Set goals for work after completion .
  • Be flexible and rearrange your schedule as needed.
  • Try listening to some music, if it doesn't work for you, don't force it.
  • Put your phone away in a drawer or in another room somewhere so that you can't get distracted by it.
  • Be sure to stay organized so that you don't lose anything. Studies show that your brain thinks better when you are in an clear, organized work space. Think about time after school to organize.
  • I like to keep my phone downstairs whilst I do my homework upstairs so I won't get distracted.

Warnings

  • Many people do the homework that requires the computer first. Do the internet-free homework first, and then get back onto your routine. This way you surely cannot be distracted by social media!
  • Don't work yourself up. Take a break if you need to!
