Fix a Pen Drive Corrupted With Virus
Here are some recommendations (NB; this will only work under XP; as the utility used is no longer supported by HP and is not vista compatible)
Steps
- Make sure before you start your computer has fully updated antivirus, otherwise it will be fun for you...
- Download the HP usb disk utility from the link on http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm
- Scan the file for a virus and then install it
- Run the HP usb utility, and format the usb drive (to FAT32 file format)
- Notice if the USB drive is not recognized by the utility. This is bad news; the USB drive is dead. This is very unlikely to have happened as a result of virus activity, and is more likely to be because of use, but either way, time to give up on it.
