Get Into a Clique
This article is on how to get yourself into any clique you want to.
Steps
- Before you start reading, see the warnings at the bottom of the page to make sure that you want to go through with being part of a clique! If you want to be accepted you need to fit in because people like other people who are like them. You must carefully study their ways, manners of behavior and mentalities. After acquiring this knowledge, imitate them. Slowly assimilate into their "clique culture".
- Study how they dress, imitate it, do not copy them exactly- if you come up to them wearing the same outfit, they will be shocked and creeped out.
- Figure out what they find funny- it will be your new sense of humor. Work on your humor. In addition, funny comebacks are very popular with people. Although it is making fun of innocent people, it makes well-known people laugh with you and want to like you.
- Find out how they talk to each other casually. Some groups might be very sarcastic, while others are very serious. Study their language, too. If they use many slang words, start talking like that. If they speak very properly or use many txt words, work on talking like that!
- Try to find out what they all have in common, or why they are friends. This will show you how their mind works.
- Form a small relationship with a member of the clique. If you are their friend, then they can get you in the clique. Nevertheless, try to be friends with one of the smaller people first off. Do not get ahead of yourself.
- Start talking to that one member more often. Try to find something you both have in common. Study everything about her, but avoid becoming obsessed
- Once you think your friendship is strong enough, ask them who some of their friends are. It is a great conversation topic, and you may even know one of them personally.
- Try to form friendships with one or more other members of the clique. That way you will know more than one person inside that clique, and the rest of that clique will judge you less or in a positive way.
- Start hanging out with the clique members more often, but do not overdo it. Sometimes they will think you are weird and/or stalking them. Be careful that you do not hang out with them too much in the first few weeks.
- Do not stalk them! If you are in some classes with them offer to help them with stuff. Just do not imply they are stupid! They could get very insulted by that.
- Enjoy your new clique membership! Remember to have fun, and do not turn into somebody you are not.
Tips
- When you are in a clique, make sure you are part of the "behind the scene" part of it. This will get your more information about the clique and its members.
- Remember that the person that you try to be friends with in the beginning should be someone who is part of the clique, but not the leader. If you try to start being friends with the leader, you will have a very hard time.
- Be sure to make some new friends (and hold onto the old) while you are in the clique, because if they start putting you down, you are going to want to have friends to go to besides them.
- Although being in many cliques at once may be very nice, it can also be very stressful.
- Learning how they talk casually is VITAL.
- If the clique you are trying to get into tells you to change who you are, DO NOT be a member! Try to get into a different clique.
- If you fail to make a friendship with the first clique member you try, you have lost your chance.
- Talk to people outside of the clique, and try not to have people feel excluded.
Warnings
- Don't try to do this in one day! It will not work and they freak out. Infiltrating a new social circle is a process that can take time.
- Being in a clique can be demanding! Do not let this clique overtake your life: remember what's most important and keep your social life in proper perspective.
- Avoid changing yourself to fit in. Stay true to who you are, and never ditch good friends who will always have your back for "friends" that do not make you feel the best about yourself. Most people in cliques get in big messes before they finish college.
- If one clique does not work out, go to the next one. It is ok to be different.
