Get Nail Polish off a Shirt

Accidentally brushed your shirt when you were doing your nails? Here's some ways to get that nail polish stain off your clothing.

Steps

  1. Use non-acetone nail polish remover. Nail polish remover not only works for your nails, but it can also work on you may want to use detergent and warm water to insure that the stain is completely off. This isn't the most preferred method.
  2. Use hydrogen peroxide and water. If you have a white or colorfast shirt, this can be used if the nail polish remover doesn't seem to work. Mix half hydrogen peroxide and half water. For the best result leave it in the sun for a few hours and keep it moist with the hydrogen peroxide and water mix. [1]
  3. Spray with hairspray and water. Tap or dab after applying using the edge of the spoon. [2]
  4. Give the shirt to your local dry cleaner. They will most likely help you take out that stain on the shirt. It gives a lower chance of damaging your shirt.

Tips

  • If it doesn't work the first time try again or use a different method.
  • Test the methods on something else to make sure it is usable.
  • Next time wear an old shirt.
  • Use baking soda and hair spray.

Warnings

  • Do not give up when trying to remove the stain. Something will work and the stain won't be there forever.
  • Depending on the type of shirt, the stains won't always come off. Sometimes it could make the stain worse. When that happens please take it to a professional.
