Get Rid of a Cartilage Infection from Piercing
If you've had a cartilage piercing get infected, you know what pain feels like. Here are some tips and easy ways to get rid of the pain and infection.
Steps
- Place a warm washcloth on the infected area. Keep it on there for about 10 minutes. This will help your ear by making it feel better.
- Buy a triple antibiotic cream. Be sure to get some Q-Tips and apply the cream on the tip of the Q-Tip. (Before handling any of the items, be sure to clean your hands with SOAP!)
- Apply the cream to the infected area. Be sure not to overdose it. If the infection doesn't die down within 42 hours, you may have to go to the doctor.
- Ibuprofen may help with the pain.
Tips
- Try your hardest not to lay on your ear.
- After you get out of the shower/bath, be sure to clean your ears as you don't know if there's any chemicals in the water. Also, the kind of soap you use can irritate it.
- Avoid touching the piercings.
- Be sure to clean your pillow cases and blankets at least 3-4 times a week.
- Before cleaning your piercings (or touching them) wash your hands.
- To keep your ear from getting infected, clean it 3 times a day.
Warnings
- Don't clean your ears with alcohol or peroxide.
- Don't exceed using the antibiotic cream more times than directed.
- Do NOT touch your ears without cleaning your hands.
