Get Started Learning Malay Language

Malay language is predominantly spoken in Malaysia. Although the name of the language is different in Indonesia, most words are common between them. Thus, Malay is spoken in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, southern Thailand, southern Philippines and Australia. Malay has also some dialects. One of them is Kelantanese, spoken in Kelantan, Malaysia.

Tips

  • * The "se" at the front is shortened from 'satu' (one)
  • Try to find some correct pronunciations in each word.
  • A lot of the pronunciations are pretty straight forward.
  • a=aa, e=uh, i=ee, o=oh without the "h" ending, u=u. (It is best to check the pronunciations online.
