Get the Twiggy Look
Twiggy was the "It" girl of the sixties and rocked a mod, and very unique, pixie/glamor look. From her cute pixie bob to her enormous eyes, this look is not hard to come by with a few makeup products and some mod clothing.

Steps
- Hair- Twiggy mostly wore her hair in a smooth, simple side part, worn behind her ears. Keep in mind this hair style suited her bone structure, and is not for everyone. If you have fringe, wear your fringe down! The whole point is to not try so hard.
- Makeup- This is the most important part of the look. Start with a clean, oil-free face. Put on some lotion if you have dry skin. Cover up any zits, but do not cover your entire face with foundation. Twiggy had freckles and rarely wore foundation. If your skin flushed you uneven, brush a light colored loose powder over your face.
- Eyes- Clean up your eyebrows and thin them out a little bit if they are bushy. Sweep your eyes with a cream or peach eye shadow up to your eyebrow. Use a thin liner brush to line the crease of your eyes with a dark brown or black eye shadow. It will help the eyes look bigger if you line the crease barely above the actual crease. Now for the hard part. Use liquid eyeliner to put a thin line on the top lash line. Make the line a little thicker towards the ends of your eyes. If you mess up, just take a Q-Tip and make the correction. Add white pencil eyeliner to the inside of your bottom lashes and in between the lashes themselves, creating a thick frosted effect on the lower lashes.
- Eyelashes- Put a thick layer of mascara on your top lashes and make them as long as possible. You can use false eyelashes if you wish. Now you have a choice for the famous bottom eyelashes, called "Twiggies". If you want the Twiggy eyes, but think you will look ridiculous with the painted on ones, you can use mascara. It is very easy- just keep sweeping on mascara from left to right, until the bottom lashes are clumped together. After they are thick enough, finish by fanning them out a little. This makes the eyes to appear different. If you want authentic Twiggies, do not put any mascara on the bottom lashes. Take the liquid eyeliner and make small lines, evenly spaced apart, on the bottom lash line. Take your time.
- Cheekbones- Blush was not very popular in the sixties, especially not on the apples of your face. Twiggy was very skinny, and liked to accentuate her caved in cheekbones by adding dark rouse to the pits below her cheekbones. To apply blush this way, suck in your cheeks like a fish, and sweep the blush in the caved in part right below your cheekbones. Do not go down all the way to your jawline or else it will create an overly red look.
- Lips- Do not use lipstick or any color on your lips. Take a dab of plain Vaseline and put it on the top of our hand. Take another dab of very light pink lip gloss and put it next to the Vaseline. Lastly rub some white eyeliner next to the other two and mix all together. This makes a perfect, pale color for your lips.
- Outfit- Be sure to keep it simple. Try a shift dress with white or black opaque tights. Make sure they are full length tights and not cut-off leggings. This is the 60's, not the 80's. Look at pictures of Twiggy and other models from the 60's.
Tips
- To make eyes appear bigger, line the inner bottom lid with white eyeliner.
- Try not to wear hoop earrings. These did not get popular until the 70's.
- Straighten very curly hair to get a sleek, polished look.
- If you have light eyebrows, fill them in with some dark brown eyebrow pencil.
- One to Two inch heels were in style, not {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} heels. Keep them modest.
Warnings
- The makeup style looks best on round or oval shaped faces.
- This look does not work for certain figures and bone structures.
- Do not use Carmex or Blistex as it has camphor, which chaps your lips.
