Help Your Retired Parents Save Money

If your retired parents seem clueless about their own financial well being, you may decide you need to help them keep their heads above water. Here's how.

Steps

  1. Figure out what stores they frequent. Suggest they buy things on the Internet if they don't already. You may need to show them the ropes. Help them find the best online deals.
  2. If they shop at stores, clip coupons for them to use. That can save them a lot of money.
  3. If they shop online, tell them about the great deals they can find on Ebay, Amazon, and plenty of other sites.
  4. Tell them about Black Friday and Door Busters.
  5. Give them things. This is a really simple idea. Do they want something you know they can't afford? Get it for them!
  6. Remind them to shut off the lights when not being used, run less water, and wear layered clothing so they can turn the heat down a little.

Tips

  • If they don't want help, just accept it. Maintain good relations.

Warnings

  • Be careful about the coupons you find for your parents. Some are fraudulent.
  • Make sure the websites they visit are trustworthy.
