Hike a Mountain Trail for a Week

Are you going on a week hike on a mountain trail? You've come to the right place.

Steps

  1. Prepare. This is the single most important part of hiking for long periods of time. Prepare in two ways: prepare your supplies and prepare physically.
  2. Find someone to go with. You don't want to hike a mountain trail alone for a week. Many things could happen to you: you could lose your supplies, you could get lost, and you could be lonely.
  3. Obtain your supplies. For a whole week, you're going to need a lot of food, water, and other essentials (phone, water filter, eating utensils, etc.). Look at the things you'll need for a full list of items to bring.
  4. Plan. You should plan everything before you go on the hike. If you don't, you will have to figure out where to go when you get there, and hiking without a plan can be dangerous.
  5. Start. By now you should be ready to start on a week-long trail. Have people that aren't on the hike aid you on the trail. Have them bring extra food, water, supplies, etc.
  6. Hike. Hike until you've made it to the point that you planned. When you get to the shelter or open area you will sleep at, stop and set up camp.

Tips

  • Get a haircut before you go on this hike. It'll be cooler and easier to manage.
  • Use something to repel bears. The cheapest way to do this is to clip a metal spoon to a metal bucket. They'll clang and repel bears.
  • Take practice hikes before you go on a long trip. This will prepare you physically.
  • Take breaks. You need to stop every now and then, so do it. Take breaks after going uphill; you'll be exhausted and you'll need a break.
  • Drink lots of water. If you drink enough water, your urine should be clear. If it's not, then you should start drinking more water.

Warnings

  • Beware of bears and wild animals. You should put anything that has an odor into a separate bag. Hang this bag up in a tree when you sleep.
  • Don't eat everything that looks good. There are poisonous berries. It's not safe to eat anything in the wild unless you know it's edible.
