Keep Raccoons off Your Bird Feeder Pole
A raccoon can overcome almost anything meant to prevent it from getting to a bird feeder mounted on a pole, but raccoons are sensitive to touch and cannot tolerate the pain this device will cause.
Steps
- Buy a few feet of foam rubber pipe insulation with a slit up the side. Make sure you get the right diameter for your pole.
- Buy a box of carpet tacks about 1" long.
- Open the slit on the foam and push the tacks through the inside so they stick out the outside.
- Put about 3 tacks around the circumference and make rows about 1" apart the entire length of pipe insulation.
- Install the insulation around your pole at a height they cannot reach above.
- Fasten it with wire at the top, middle and bottom. You may need a ladder to reach the top
- Finished.
Tips
- A raccoon can slide the foam down or off if it isn't secure.
Warnings
