Know How Short of a Skirt Is Too Short

It's always embarrassing when you walk out of the house in a short skirt feeling confident, only to find (in the middle of the day!) that it's much too short. To be your best, most confident self, it's important to make sure your skirt is the right length.

Steps

  1. Try it on the day before. Find a large mirror that shows off your whole body and model the skirt for yourself. Turn all the way around to see if it's too short in the back.
  2. Turn around while in the mirror and bend over as far as you can. If anything that shouldn't be showing is showing, then it's too short.
  3. Sit down in a chair. If it goes up your legs, then it's probably too short.
  4. Go with your gut. If you have a skirt you want to wear, but you have a gut feeling that it may be too short, then don't wear it.
  5. Ask your friends and family. Model it for them and consider what they're saying.
  6. What fit you a few months ago may not fit you now. Your body is growing--fast. It may seem unbelievable, but that skirt that you just bought 3 months ago may not fit anymore.
  7. Know that ultimately, it is your choice what you wear. If it gives you confidence and makes you feel good about yourself, then wear whatever you want!

Tips

  • If you roll up your skirt, make sure its straight all the way around you.
  • If you're worried about going to school or work in a skirt, bring an extra pair of jeans for just in case.
  • If you are wearing it to school, check to see if it is against school uniform before you go.
  • If you like the skirt but it seems a bit too short for your parents liking, pair them with knee length leggings or some type of tights, opaque is more modest.

Warnings

  • If you feel uncomfortable or exposed when wearing the skirt, then you shouldn't be wearing it.
  • Don't wear a hoodie or large jacket over your top; it may create the illusion that your skirt is much shorter than it actually is.
