Look Like Helena from My Chemical Romance

If you've seen the MCR video for Helena (an epic video about a young deceased girl with dancing mourners and beautiful vivid colors), you may want to mimic that look. Most people that try to pull off the 'dead' look and look off by a lot. Here is how to wow your friends, family, and your fellow cosplayers or partiers!

Steps

  1. If you are already pale, this step is optional. But for naturally tan people you should start out with a white powder foundation. Using a foundation or a highlighter brush, use it all over your face. Try to avoid using cream foundation, it can mess up your makeup easily
  2. Get a red or light matte rose eyeshadow (light or dark colors will do) and use a brush (or finger) and gently sweep over your entire eyelid (and a little by your brow line). Use a little red eyeshadow under your eyes too, it will add more detail and deathly.
  3. Use a black, pink, or white eyeliner pencil under your eyes. You can make the eyeliner appear thick or thin, as long as it's there.
  4. Take out your foundation or highlighter brush and dip it in a little of your white powder foundation, and go over your neck and jaw line if you didn't do this.
  5. Find the palest pink, nude, or light pink lipstick or lip gloss you can find, and apply it to your lips. Don't put on too much, and only use the same shade of lip-liner.
  6. Put on the dress and black ballet shoes.

Tips

  • For best results, make sure you are in a bright area when you are applying makeup
  • Eye shadow in more unusual colors, i.e., red hues, is difficult to find except as part of sets. It doesn't have to be from Hot Topic to work- I've found a perfect shade for this look at Target! Look for assortments designed to bring out a green eye-color.
  • If you're going for the full Helena look, have fun with it! Don't be afraid to smudge up the makeup! It looks better and deadlier.

Warnings

  • Make sure you don't use foundation on your eyelids.. your eyes will burn.
  • Try not to use black on the eyes... Shes not wearing black eyeshadow. Only in some scenes from effects.
  • Helena is a just a character, essentially, so don't mimic this look for casual situations. For clubbing, parties, concerts, dress-up, and costumes.
