Make All Natural Face Masks

Are you tired of buying products that are loads of money and make your skin feel even worse? Here are 11 masks that you probably have lying around the house. They are all-natural, and the best part about them is they work.

Steps

Egg face masks

  1. Make an egg white face mask. Egg whites can tighten pores, giving you a temporary face lift, as lemon has vitamin C that can remove blackheads and other blemishes.
    • Beat one egg white with a fork until it's frothy.
    • Add a few drops of lemon juice, and apply on the face until it is dry. You can tell if it's dry if you have difficulty smiling.
    • Finally, rinse off the mask.

Fruit face masks

  1. Make a mask with tomatoes. Tomatoes contain lycopene, slowing down the process of aging skin.[citation needed]
    • Put a spoonful of granulated sugar on a plate.
    • Coat one side of a {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} tomato slice in sugar.
    • Rub it on your face and leave it on for approx. 10 min. And then rinse off. Feel free to eat the tomato.
  2. Make a strawberry face mask. Strawberries contain alpha-hydroxy acid, which sloughs off dead skin cells, and salicylic acid that gets rid of excess oil that cause breakouts.[citation needed]
    • Cut one large strawberry in half.
    • Rub on the face.
    • Leave for 5 minutes.
    • Rinse off.
  3. Make a grapefruit mask. The acids in grapefruit boost cell renewal, leaving you with fresh skin, and the vitamin C can increase collagen, making your face appear smoother.[citation needed]
    • Mix the juice of 1 grapefruit with enough sugar to make a paste.
    • Apply it on a damp face in the shower.
    • Keep it on for only 1 minute.
    • Rinse off completely.
  4. Make an avocado and witch hazel face mask. Avocado has vitamin E which is perfect for dry skin, and witch hazel gets rid of excess oil as well as impurities.
    • Mash the flesh of an avocado.
    • Mix in a few drops of witch hazel.
    • leave on the face for 5 minutes.
    • Rinse off.
  5. Make a peach and oatmeal face mask. As with strawberries, peaches contain alpha-hydroxy acid, and the oatmeal softens and soothes dry skin.
    • Mash a ripe peach with a tablespoon each of oatmeal and honey.
    • Apply for 10 minutes.
    • Rinse off.
  6. Make a banana face mask. Bananas have natural fruit acids that erase dry skin.
    • Mash a ripe banana with 2 tablespoons of yogurt.
    • Apply for 15 minutes.
    • Rinse off.

Vegetable face masks

  1. Make a canned pumpkin and papaya face mask. Pumpkin is loaded with antioxidants, while papaya contains an enzyme that removes oil and dead skin.
    • Mix a cup of canned (mashed) pumpkin with 2/3 cups mashed papaya.
    • Apply on a clean dry face.
    • Leave on for about 10 minutes.
    • Rinse off.
  2. Make a cucumber face mask. Cucumber has cooling properties that reduce redness, puffiness and inflammation; this is why putting cucumbers over your eyes is recommended for baggy eyes.
    • In a blender, blend half a cucumber with a tablespoon of yogurt.
    • Apply for 20 minutes.
    • Rinse off.

Sweetener face masks

  1. Make a brown sugar and milk face mask. Brown sugar is a natural exfoliant that scrubs dead skin, and milk is a cleanser. Mix 1 cup of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk. Then rub on the face for 60 seconds, and keep it on for 15 minutes. Rinse.
  2. Make a yogurt and honey face mask. Honey softens and moisturizes dry skin, and yogurt has lactic acid that rejuvenates the complexion.
    • Add a teaspoon of yoghurt to 2 tablespoons of honey, put it in the microwave for 15 seconds to melt the honey a little bit (optional).
    • Apply for 10-15 minutes.
    • Rinse off.
  3. Make a honey and olive oil face mask. This helps acne and target spots and also brightens your complexion.[citation needed]
    • Mix 1 teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of oil. Warm it in the microwave for 10 seconds.
    • Apply this paste on your face and leave it for a good 10 minutes.
    • Rinse off.

Tips

  • Put cucumber slices on your eyes to reduce under eye circles (bags) while you wait for the mask duration to end.
  • Put tea bags on your eyes to help reduce under eye circles.
  • Milk is great for face masks.
  • If you don't have a papaya, don't worry. Pineapple works just as well.
  • Don't have a peach on hand? Plums and nectarines have alpha-hydroxy acid too.
  • You don't need to do all the steps, just one. But make sure you do one that suits your skin type.
  • The benefits of the masks are only temporary. If you do a mask that removes excess oil, the oil will come back.
  • You can use plums and nectarines instead of a peach because they also have alpha-hydroxy acid.

Warnings

  • Do not combine several masks to make a “super mask”—one ingredient may cancel out the benefits of another.
  • Only use masks that are right for you. If a dry-skinned person uses the egg mask, their dry skin will become even drier.
  • If you react to any of the ingredients, don't use it. It can lead to irritation, which can cause acne.
  • Try to avoid the eye area.

Try a little bit of the mask on the back of your hand or side of your face. If it causes irritation, don't use that mask.
