Make Blue Eyes Stand out if You Have Dark Hair and Pale Skin

Dark hair and blue eyes are a striking combination, no matter what your skin tone. If you have pale skin, however, you may have to do some extra work to emphasize your eyes. But don't worry-- you can easily create a simple but stunning look for yourself.

Steps

  1. Make sure your face is clean, and you've applied foundation over any dark circles under your eyes.
  2. Groom your eyebrows, plucking any stray hairs, to create a soft arch to frame your eyes.
    • If you have very thin eyebrows, you may want to emphasize them with pencil.
  3. Brush a thin layer of medium gray eyeshadow onto your upper lid. Keep the eyeshadow heavier and more concentrated on the outer part of the lid, and use a lighter hand near the inner corner. This color is best if you have black hair. If you have dark brown hair, try a golden brown.
    • If you want to go for a bolder look, pick a color to flatter your eye color further. Try violet, gold, or rose.
    • If you want a more understated look, skip the eyeshadow entirely.
  4. Apply a thin line of eyeliner eyeliner to your lids. You can either just do the upper lid, or under your eye as well. Keep the line under your eye thin, and you can use a waterproof eyeliner to put it on your waterline. Use a white eyeliner for your waterline to make your eyes appear larger. Make sure that the line connects to the base of your lashes. If the line isn't perfect, you can use a q-tip with makeup remover, concealer, or eyeshadow to fix it. Also apply a matching eyeshadow over the eyeliner to help it stay longer and not smudge.
  5. Apply mascara, working from the base of your lashes up to the tips. To help it not to clump, wiggle the mascara wand a bit as you apply it.

Tips

  • You may want to curl your lashes beforehand.
  • If you have short lashes, you may want to consider false lashes for special occasions.
  • Use blue eyeliner to help bring out your eye color.
  • Match your mascara color to your eyeliner color.
