Make Carrot Halwa Without Milk
Carrot Halwa/Halva is one of the most famous and delicious Indian sweet dishes!
Ingredients
- Carrots
- Sugar
- Ghee
- Garnish (Raisins, Almonds, Cashew nuts)
Steps
- Choose some really juicy carrots.
- Peel the carrots and wash them.
- Now grate the carrots using a fine grater.
- Put all the grated carrots into one vessel.
- Heat the vessel on your stove in simmer-mode without adding any water or milk. Since the carrots are rich in water-content, they won't get burned. Keep the vessel closed with a lid.
- After about 90% of the water has evaporated, add required(depending on how sweet you want it to be) amount of sugar to it.
- Keep stirring the mixture till it comes together. At this stage, add ghee to it and continue stirring.
- Close the lid for about 5-10 minutes and let the rest of the water evaporate. Switch-off your stove now.
- Your carrot halwa is ready to be served. You can wait for it to cool down to room temperature or refrigerate and serve it cold. It tastes delicious either way.
- You can add some cashew nuts, raisins, almonds, etc., to add some flavour and decorate the dish.
Tips
- You can add the nuts and raisins after grating and cook them with the carrots, if you prefer.
Warnings
- Be careful while handling the knife, peeler and grater.
