Make a Basic Indian Gravy

Do you like spicy food or Indian flavors? Here is the recipe for a flavorful gravy that can be converted into many different entrees.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized onions (chopped)
  • 5 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
  • 3 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tbsp. coriander power
  • 1 tsp. mild chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. hot chili powder
  • 1 tsp. garam masala powder or curry powder
  • 3 cans of kidney or garbanzo beans
  • salt to taste

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  3. Add chopped onions and fry till translucent
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and fry till the gravy becomes like a paste. Almost takes 10 - 15 minutes.
  5. Add coriander powder, curry powder/ garam masala powder, chili powder and salt.
  6. Fry for another 2 minutes. Now the gravy is ready.
  7. Add a combination of cauliflower, potato or peas and add enough water and cook until it becomes soft, and finally three cans of either garbanzo or kidney beans.
  8. Finished.
