Make Chocolate Fridge Cake
Children and adults alike will love this delicious and simple treat. There is no baking, and no fuss, so why not give it a try?
Ingredients
- 1 large packet of biscuits (rich tea, digestive or ginger)
- 3 tablespoons of golden syrup
- 150 grams of chocolate (plain, milk, white, etc.)
- 150 grams of butter
- A handful of dried fruit (currants, sultanas, raisins or chopped dried apricots) This recipe is also much better with marshmallows and bits of fudge and toffee for a sweeter taste.
Steps
- Line a shallow, roughly 8"x8" (20x20 cm), square tin with cling-film so that it overhangs the edges slightly.
- Crush the biscuits. Add the dried fruit at this point if you're using it.
- Melt the other ingredients in a double saucepan or a ceramic bowl over boiling water.
- Pour the chocolate mixture over the biscuits and mix well.
- Put this mixture into the lined tin. Smooth the top and press down firmly with the back of a spoon.
- Put the tin into the fridge for at least 3 hours or overnight.
- Turn the cake out onto a wooden cutting board and peel away the cling-film.
- Cut the cake into pieces using a sharp knife dipped in boiling water.
- Store in an air-tight container or enjoy straight away!
Warnings
- Always be careful when using hot water and knives. If working with children, ensure they are supervised at all times.
