Make Kit Kat Lasagna

Tired of the usual cheesy, tomato flavor of your usual lasagna? Even if you're not, you may just be keen to try an awesome treat of the layered sweet crunchiness that is the Kit Kat lasagna. It's fun to make, and even more fun to eat. It's also the ideal birthday cake substitute for the kid who is tired of the usual sponge cake.

Ingredients

Choose the amounts according to how large the lasagna dish is:

  • Plain or chocolate flavored wafer biscuits
  • Chocolate coated honeycomb
  • White chocolate, suitable for melting
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Milk chocolate, suitable for melting

Steps

Layer 1 - Lasagna sheets

  1. Layer the base of the lasagna dish with wafer biscuits. Cover it completely. If the last ones won't fit, cut neatly to size and place in accordingly.

Layer 2 - Candy meat

  1. Place the chocolate coated honeycomb into a resealable bag.
  2. Use a rolling pin to roll back and forth and crush the honeycomb into large crumbs.
  3. Sprinkle over the base layer of wafer biscuits. Cover it as well as possible. If you're running short, spread it out evenly.

Layer 3 - Candy sauce

  1. Melt the white chocolate. Either melt it in a double boiler over the stove, or place in a microwave-proof bowl and microwave until melted.
  2. Pour the melted chocolate over the crushed honeycomb layer. Completely cover this layer; melt more chocolate if needed.

Layer 4 - Lasagna sheets

  1. Place a new layer of wafer biscuits across the melted white chocolate. As with last time, cut any to fit at the end, as needed.

Layer 5 - Candy meat

  1. Sprinkle mini marshmallows right across the wafer biscuits. Cover well.

Layer 6 - Candy sauce

  1. Melt the milk chocolate. As before, either melt it over the stove or in the microwave, whichever is easiest for you.

Layer 7 - Candy meat

  1. Sprinkle a heavy layer of Smarties or similar candy-coated chocolate candies right across the melted chocolate sauce. Add as many as possible but keep the layer even.

Layer 8 - Candy sauce

  1. Pour over another layer of melted milk chocolate to serve as sauce.

Layer 9 - Top of the lasagna

  1. Break the Kit Kat into single sticks.
  2. Arrange the Kit Kat sticks across the top of the candy lasagna.
  3. Place in the refrigerator to set. You might like to cover the dish, to prevent fridge odors from contaminating the wonderful candy taste.

Serving

  1. Remove from the refrigerator. Place on the party or dinner table. Provide a knife and spatula so that guests can help themselves.

Tips

  • You can vary anything in this dish as wished. You may prefer to use all Kit Kats and no wafers, or to use different candies or to vary the chocolate sauce types. It's really up to you and what you're able to purchase or the flavors you prefer.
  • An alternative topping is to pour white chocolate sauce on, then spell out the birthday person's name using Kit Kat sticks.
