Make Meat and Mayonnaise Stuffed Egg Whites
On this recipe there will be no need for egg yolks. But for those egg yolk lovers, they can decide whether or not to totally discard the yolks. As people are becoming more health conscious and watching their cholesterol more, every little bit helps to fight bad cholesterol. And stuffed egg whites are tasty, or can be, without the yolks. This recipe is quite tasty and is a great snack. It can be served at a dinner party or for just having friends over.
Ingredients
- 6 to 12 eggs are needed! (discard the yolks)
- 2 to 4 (3oz.) Cans of Hormel or Armour Potted Meat Products
- 2 to 3 tablespoons of Hellmann's Light Mayonnaise (more or less)
- Optional Items: Salt, black or red pepper (a salt substitute can be used in the place of salt)
Steps
- Boil the eggs. Then peel.
- Cut the eggs in half lengthwise and remove the yolks. Rinse well and set them aside.
- Add the potted meat and mayonnaise into a bowl, blend and set aside. Have a good sized serving platter ready or a Tupperware container to put the stuffed egg whites on or in.
- Fill each of the egg whites clean to the top, but do not allow the potted meat to run over the sides.
- Place each one of the egg whites on the platter or in the Tupperware that's set up for them.
- Store the stuffed egg whites in the fridge and allow them to chill for at least 20-25 minutes.
- Season. Any salt or pepper can be added before or after refrigeration.
Tips
- As an alternate plan to this recipe, whip up some tuna salad or chicken salad.
- The use of red pepper will add a delightful taste to the stuffed egg whites. And it will serve as a garnish to give the stuffed egg whites a more attractive appeal, such as for a party, or for dinner guests.
- A person could stuff the egg whites with pimento cheese that's either freshly made or store bought.
- Fresh parsley can be added on top of the stuffed egg whites for garnish, which is a good idea if serving this dish at a party.
- One can truly use their imagination on seasoning, such as adding a little basil in with the potted meat.
- A damp paper towel or napkin placed beneath the egg white will prevent it from shifting.
- A little squirt of mustard on top of each of the stuffed egg whites is a nice touch, also.
- Some type of Cheese Whiz product can be applied to each stuffed egg whites. It will be tasty and dress them up.
Warnings
- Don't go overboard on a good thing, such as too much salt and pepper.
- Remember: compared to canned potted meats with mayonnaise and Cheese Whiz, egg yolk is on par with broccoli in health value.
