Make Nails Look Longer with Polish

The goal of this article is to make short nails, with barely any white showing, appear longer. This is done by using nail designs that enhance both length and beauty.

Steps

Ombre Nails

  1. For Ombre Nails, you will need 4 colors total. Nude or white, and 2 different shades of the same color group. (For example pink, so paint on a nude, then have a light pink and a dark pink.) Lastly, clear or sparkly top coat.
  2. Paint your nails a nude color or a very light shade of your color family, and let dry. 
  3.   Now take a makeup sponge and use the small end of it. 
  4. Brush on the lighter color on the tip, and sponge it onto your nails about 3/4 down your nail from the tip.
  5. Once that dries, sponge on another coat of the light color, but not as far down. 
  6. Let dry, and now go to your darker color.  You will do a light coat about 1/2 the way down, and then a bit hear coat 1/4 the way down. 
  7. Let dry, and apply your top coat. How cute!

French Manicure

  1. Use a piece of tape and if you want to, cut a little curve into it. 
  2. Place on your nail, and then paint white on the tip.
  3. Don't take the tape off until it is dry.
  4.   Remove the tape, then paint on a clear top coat.
  5. If you want to, add a very light pinkish top coat such as China Glaze's Love Letters.
  6. Let dry and instant long looking nails!

Alternatives

  1. Sparkles! For some reason Sparkly nail polish has the effect of longer looking nails. 
  2. Dark Colors:  One thing that people with short nails can pull off is dark colors. Deep purples, and blues even look Gothic on people with long nails, but for the others, it looks nice. 



Tips

  • When doing any of these, just know that your nails will never be longer unless they are. So this article can help, but without gel tips or anything like that, you will have the same nails you had before!

Things You'll Need

  • Nail Polish: Various colors depending on the one you do.
  • Nail polish remover
  • Tape
  • Something to do this on to avoid mess(Nail polish makes a big mess)
