Make Sweet Wrapper Flowers

Sweet wrapper flowers are cheap and easy to make and they look quite marvelous. Sidestep the hassle of buying of expensive flowers and get creative by repurposing your favorite sweet wrappers into something new.

Steps

Preparing the Wrappers

  1. Select suitable wrappers to use for the project. Collect wrappers from your favorite singly wrapped candies over time. You'll need at least two contrasting wrapper colors. The amounts are identified below.
    • If you'd rather purchase wrappers in identifiable colors for petals and a base stem and mid-flower color––see the suggestions for colors under "Things You'll Need" below.
  2. Remove any candy and candy crumbs. Make sure that each wrapper is clean before commencing the project.

Making a Stem

This section uses identifiable colors to make it easier to understand the instructions. You can change the colors to suit your own needs and the wrappers you have.

  1. Take a green wrapper. Tape it to the side of the straw.
  2. Wrap the green wrapper around the rest of the straw. Repeat until all the straw is green.

Making a Flower

  1. Take the yellow wrapper. Flatten it out place your finger in the middle of it. Scrunch it up around your finger.
    • Repeat the above scrunching process for each yellow (inner flower) wrapper if you're making more than one flower.
  2. Tape the scrunched wrapper to the top of the green stem straw. Repeat for extra flowers if you are making more than one.
  3. Tape the colored wrappers around the yellow one. Tape the wrappers in an even flower-like shape, pulling out to appear as much like petals as possible.

Adding the Flower Base

  1. Take the last green wrapper and make a hole in the middle of it.
  2. Feed this wrapper up the straw, using the central hole you've just made. Then scrunch it tight around then base of the flower to appear like the part of the flower that meets the stem.
    • Repeat for as many flowers as you want.
  3. Enjoy your sweet wrapper flowers.
  4. Finished.
