Make Your Neopets Smarter

First, let's start with the basics! If you do not have more than 10k Neopoints, you cannot do this all in one day! You have to know your pets well; if you know them really well, or if you do not know your own pet, you can read them the 'Mystery of the Kougra Paw' first to see if they are picky because picky pets don't like a lot of the books. Now you may as well start.

Steps

  1. Buy a bunch of exciting books. Don't spend too much money though. There are some relatively cheap books out there.
  2. Read to your pet via the status screen which will be accessed by clicking the book in your inventory. In the drop down list are your options for what you can do with an item. Each book can only be read once and will vanish once read.
  3. If your pet claims the book is boring change the language to Korean (한국어) at the bottom of the page, if your pet refuses to read a book. Sometimes you may need to use another language. The key here is to change the number of characters in the name of the book (also works when you want to feed your pet and they don't like the food).
  4. Check your pet's status to see how intelligent your pet is. If you click your pet's intelligence you can see a list of books your pet has read.
  5. Complete Library Faerie Crosswords to make your pet smarter. Various fan sites have solutions updated daily.
  6. Play Cliffhanger on Hard. A guide is available on various fan sites.
  7. You can get a trophy. If your pet reads more books than other pets you will win a trophy for your pets quick reference page. The current highest tally is somewhere around 2000 books.

Tips

  • Do not buy books as soon as they are released as there will be very few available at first. Wait a few weeks until more of the item has been released and the price has gone down.
  • You can only read one book once.
  • Remember the difference between the Book Award and the Booktastic Book Award. Booktastic books will not count towards your Book Award trophy but count towards a separate trophy.
  • The money tree often has free books, so you should check there if you don't have many neopoints.
  • Use the Shop Wizard to find books at their lowest price.
  • A new book recently released is A Kau Summer.There is no price range for it though.Some people charge 50 NP,others charge 1,000 NP(in user shops).
  • Find a pet page such as the one belonging to ChiChiChi_ChiaPet which lists books available and work your way through them.
  • List of cheap books that cost less than 25 np: Tome of Selket, Neopian Times Issue 3, Yurble Tales, More Than Carrot Cake, Faellie Tales, Ogrin Survivor, Neohomes and Gardens, Kiko Pop-Up Book, The Luckiest Babaa, Grooming Your Faellie, Maraqua Colouring Book, The Gorgeous Galleon... there are much much more but I gave you quite a few!

Warnings

  • Be careful not to spend more than you can afford.
  • Check the value of any item very carefully. Check the Trading Post, Auctions, and Shop Wizard to make sure you are getting a good deal.
