Make a 3D Snowman Decoration (Salt Dough)
This article will give step by steps into making a cute display for Christmas all in under an hour.
Steps
- Combine 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1/2 cup of water in a bowl. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until smooth.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and shape each into a snowman, flattening the base so it will stand up (each piece should be divided into two balls for the head and body).
- Microwave the snowmen on a plate one or two at a time for 20 to 30 second intervals until the dough is fairly firm (about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes in total). Let the snowmen cool (they can get quite hot).
- Use a fine-point permanent black marker to draw on eyes and a mouth.
- For a nose, cut off the very tip of a carrot and glue it below its eyes and above its mouth.
- Use felt or fabric to make a scarf or hat for the snowman.

Tips
- When putting snowmen in the microwave, make them taller than what size you want (the snowman "melts" a little in the microwave), or lay it down on its back.
- You can make anything out of these ingredients, not just snowmen if you have cookie cutters.
- You can try cutting them and then with a hot glue gun attach a piece of ribbon to hang on your christmas tree
- Use colored fabrics or felt (preferably red or green).
- Paint the snowmen for a whiter effect, if desired.
Warnings
- Be careful when taking snowmen out of the microwave; they can get hot.
