Make a Damp Paper Towel
For dusting or cleaning certain objects, one often wonders if the cleaning product in hand might damage the object you're going to clean. A "damp" paper towel, as opposed to dripping wet, is often the best solution to this problem; though it's not recommended to use water to clean electronics.

Steps
- Take a paper towel and ball it up in your hand, leaving one corner slightly outside your fist.
- Put your towel under running water. You will need very little water, there is no need to soak it.
- Squeeze the now wet paper towel until it stops dripping completely.
- With fist still squeezing, shake your hand gently (to prevent that water from entering the paper towel.
- For good measure, give it one last squeeze.
- Open your hand.
- Starting with the expose corner, gently shake the balled up paper towel. It will slowly unravel.
- Done! Fold your damp paper towel into the desired size for your project.
Tips
- You can wet the paper towel first, then ball it up into your fist.
- While unraveling, you may need to grab other sections of the towel to prevent tearing and quicken the unraveling process.
Warnings
- Beware of what surfaces you use it on. In excess amounts, water can damage wood surfaces and genuine leather (causing it to shrink, dry out and crack). Using just a damp towel and drying up the excess water is fine, but avoid leaving a wet paper towel on the surface for extended periods of time. Using the right oil or leather conditioner can also help thwart the effect of water.
