Make a Frozen Bagel Taste Freshly Baked

If you like to put your bagels in the freezer to keep them fresh, but hate the taste when they're microwaved and toasted, follow the steps listed below to learn how to make them taste freshly baked!

Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese (optional)
  • Bagel

Steps

Microwave Refresh

  1. Wrap the bagel in a paper towel. If you don't have a paper towel, you can use a tissue (make sure it doesn't fall apart).
  2. Place it in the microwave.
  3. Turn the power setting to high.
  4. Set the timer to 20 seconds.
  5. After the bagel is done being microwaved, slice it into 2 pieces.
  6. Place both slices in a toaster. Make sure it is the kind with slots for each slice, and not a toaster oven.
  7. Put the toaster on the lowest setting, and start the toast.
  8. When finished, place the slices on the paper towel you used earlier.
  9. Evenly spread cream cheese on both sides (optional).
  10. Enjoy your bagel!

Oven Revive

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF or 180ºC.
  2. Place the whole bagel in the oven.
  3. After a few minutes you will be able to pull the bagel halves apart. To prevent you from getting burned, wear oven mitts and use a tool such as a pair of tongs to hold and pull apart the bagel.
  4. Put the bagel halves back, face down in the oven.
  5. After a few minutes your bagel will be perfectly golden brown and crunchy. Now you can put loads of cream cheese and whatever toppings you like (optional). It will taste great.

Tips

  • Make sure the toaster is plugged in.
  • Make sure to eat good bagels.
  • It helps to have a bagel slicer to evenly cut your bagel.
  • Save paper and use a cotton "eco-bag" to defrost instead of a paper towel.
  • Cream cheese, salmon and capers make a delicious topping.

Warnings

  • Bagel may be hot out of microwave.
  • If using a knife to slice your bagel, be careful not to cut yourself.
  • Electricity + water = no-no.
  • Do not stick your finger or any object in the toaster. Even if it is unplugged, you may still hurt yourself (e.g. cut yourself, etc.).
