Make Garlic Bagel Chips

Make bagel chips just like a New York deli. These are made with a garlic flavor but you can make these chips on your own by getting creative.

Steps

  1. Take a bagel and cut it lengthwise into round disks only about 1/8" thick. To do this, hold the bagel standing on its side with one hand and cut with a very sharp and long knife in full slices.
  2. Arrange the bagel slices on a cookie sheet, none overlapping.
  3. Spray with Pam butter spray.
  4. Sprinkle with garlic powder.
  5. Turn them over and repeat steps 3 and 4.
  6. Watch while broiling until as crisp as you like (about 5 minutes is good). It is usually not necessary to flip them because they are so thin.
  7. Allow to cool and eat some before serving to your guests.

Tips

  • Try your own flavorings. Onion powder works well. A mixture of cinnamon and sugar
  • The bagels do not need to be fresh but no more than 4 days old.
  • If you want the slow-cook method, melt butter in a pan and mix with crushed garlic. Then sauté the bagel slices before broiling.

Warnings

  • Because you are spraying oil/butter, beware of over spray which can cause oven fires.
