Make a Go Kart Rear End for a Huffy Slider (No Welding)

OK, here is guide on how to make a go kart rear end for your huffy slider, without needing a welder. Which works well, because not everyone can use or has access to a welder.

Steps

  1. Remove old GM or Slider wheels.
    • Use the two ratchets, extensions and 13mm sockets to take off the nuts from the middles of the wheels.
    • Once this is done remove the wheels, axle and bushings.
  2. Drill out the bushings
    • Grab the drill and the 16mm drill bit.
    • Drill through the old axle hole in the bushing.
    • Once done, put the bushing back into the rear tube of the slider
  3. Attach PVC Pipe
    • Deflate your go kart tyres, you need to get out as much air as possible. The more air you get out the easier it is to slide the PVC over the tyre.
    • Once deflated, grab the 200mm PVC pipe and slide it over the tyre, it will be a very tight fit, so u might need to use a rubber mallet to hit it on with.
    • Once the PVC is on, inflate the tyres back up.
  4. Insert axle, spacers and go-kart wheels.
    • Insert the new axle into the drilled out bushings that are now in the rear tube of the slider.
    • Put one spacer onto each side of the axle.
    • Then put the Go Kart wheels onto the axle.
    • Once its all on, attach the two nuts and tighten them up.
    • When tightening the nuts onto the axle, do not over tighten, otherwise you will break the bushing. Keep tightening till the wheel no longer moves from side to side.
  5. Enjoy your new rear end.
  6. Test it out. Just a word of caution, the go kart rear end with PVC is much slipperier than the standard green machine wheels, so take it easy on your first hill run, Its advised giving some flat ground a trial.

Warnings
