Steps
- Start out with a flat surface. If you do not have a LEGO baseplate, you can use a flat, strong surface, such as a table.
- Build some walls on the flat surface. Make sure a front wall has an entrance large enough to let in LEGO horses and troops,at least eight or nine bricks high. Also add towers at the corners of each wall.
- Add a gate, portcullis or a staircase It can either drop down or open, you decide. also decide if you want a drawbridge, but be prepares to include a moat.
- Build the top of the walls into castle rampart shapes.
- Create a moat, even if it is just partial. Some large blue LEGO plates would do.
- Add outbuildings. A barbican (tower protecting the gate) Or some village buildings would work
- Add scenery, people and accessories. Soldiers, villagers, siege weaponry, trees etc. Be creative!
Tips
- Note how many pieces you have before building, it could save you time!
- Color matters: A castle wall built entirely out of grey tones looks infinitely better than one that just uses random colored bricks.
- Castle walls weren't perfectly flat: Add side clip bricks and slopes to add detail to the wall.
- For a really impressive build, make several of the walls curved or slanted.
- Build the castle out of blue/trans blue pieces, and add an Elsa mini figure, to build the castle from Frozen.
Warnings
- Make sure the pieces won't fall if building Elsa's ice palace. Example: You make the middle tower and it falls over!
