Want to make the perfect prank call? These tips will help you have a good laugh!

Steps

  1. Play around with your voice. The ideal standard is not to be recognized by the receiver. A deeper voice is usually a good idea, but it's all relative, you are attempting to masquerade. Also, if you can do accents (British, Irish, etc.) use them to your advantage! They can make the prank really funny.
  2. Make sure you have the right number! There is absolutely nothing more embarrassing than discovering that you have made a prank-call to someone who has absolutely no idea who you are, or who you're pretending to be.
  3. Make it sound real. If you're pretending to be an admirer, don't lavish on the romantic stuff if you know that the person in question is rather shy. Also, make sure your person sounds convincing. If there's no way in the world that lets say Jade would call up Kayla and they know it, it's very likely a bad idea.
  4. Make it snappy. You really don't want to waste this person's time, do you? And, minutes of your life are also disappearing while you pretend to call someone.
  5. Make sure to put it on Private. You can do this by dialing *67 (in the U.S. and Canada) before the number. If done correctly, it will look like this: *67-123-456-7890

Tips

  • The most successful prank call is this: "Hello, this is the National Cheese Factory of Switzerland. We are calling to report that you, (Insert friend's name here, first and last), have some overdue Swiss Cheese. To report any frauds in this message, please call our number at 987-654-321. Your cheese will be fined if you do not call this number. Thank you."
  • If you are scared of your voice being recognized, find a kazoo and blow it into the phone when somebody answers. This is hilarious!
  • Don't tell them it's you if they ask!
  • If you are in a group, sit around the phone, call, and set it on speaker. When the person answers, do not respond; start singing. This works especially well with Christmas carols, which are designed for groups and can be performed as medleys. Another good song is "Willy Wonka".
  • If you're shy about doing a prank call, do this instead: "Hello? Is Gurpreet there?" The other person will - most likely - say that you have the wrong number. You can now either say "Sorry about that, have a nice day!" or, if you're more daring, say "No! I know Gurpreet's there!"
  • Another really funny prank call to do is this one: Call in your most robotic voice possible and say: "This is a political call from the Frozen Foods Party. Vote Broccoli Spears for president. Thank you." then hang up. This is an even better prank if it's an election year!
  • Keep it simple, if it's a guy make it about a girl without saying more words like just a hello and if it's a girl just a sentence like you've got discount mention the most happening n hep place or salon in town and say you have a registration fees of few 100 dollars or 1000 rs.
  • Be sure to use *67! (or 141 in the UK)
  • Always use different voices each time or it will get boring.
  • Make sure you don't say anything mean or disrespectful.

Warnings

  • Don't phone strangers. They can call the authorities on you.
  • Even if you are calling your friends, be aware that they might not find your prank calls very funny and may get extremely mad at you.
  • Whatever you do, even if you phone your friends, DON'T make threatening phone calls like "I'm watching you..." or "I'm at your front door with a knife." Anybody you call will be freaked out and will call the authorities on you!
  • Do not prank call the authorities, 911, or a school. They have the necessary tools to track down your phone number, even with *67. Plus, calling 911 could cause congestion in the line and you could be responsible for someones death because a 911 operator couldn't reach them.
  • The two best and appropriate times of the year to prank call are April Fools' and Halloween.
  • This should be only done in good fun with CLOSE FRIENDS, whom you will admit to later.
  • *67 doesn't make you invincible. Depending on what phone program people have, for a dollar, the person you called can find out your number and call you back.
  • Most phone plans have *67 as a free program, but for some you have to pay. Make sure that it's free for you unless you're willing to pay, literally!
  • In some countries like Singapore you are monitored on what calls you make and prank calls can be considered a serious offense.
  • Even if you're calling your friends, DON'T make a really sexual prank call, such as, "Hey, big boy/girl...what underwear are you wearing today?" or, "I'll see you in bed tonight." This may really freak out your friends and they will either call the police on you or report you to their parents (if they still live with them).
