Prank Call Someone You Know

Have you ever tried to prank call your friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, sibling, or cousin but they immediately figured out it was you? Here's the guide so that it will never happen again.

Steps

  1. Figure out who you're calling. Is it a good friend or your sibling who probably would know it was you? Figure out a good reason to call them. Were they going to do something today? Did they recently do something they wouldn't want anyone to know about? Do you want to freak them out with a call from their crush or ex-boyfriend? Or do you just want to bother them?
  2. Write down what you want to say, and any possible responses you think your friend will have. If they recently had a party when their parents weren't home, call their mom pretending to be someone who was at their party and wanted to tell them how great it was. People usually ask who is calling if they don't recognize the number, so...
  3. Make up a name. If you are calling someone claiming to be a telemarketer, then you won't need a name. Just say "I'm with _ company and I would like to interest you in _ product" every time they ask for your information.
  4. Figure out how you want to sound. If you are a girl, you probably shouldn't go for a deep voice unless you're sick. But if you're a boy, doing a high voice never works. if you want to sound like a moron, say "what chu talkin' bout?" every time they ask you about who you are. But if you want to sound like a parent or cop or principle or someone in power, then don't sound like a wimp, sound like you know exactly what you're talking about.
  5. Call the person. Try not to chicken out. But if you do, hang up and use a different phone with another number.
  6. If they find out it was you, deny everything. Say "Oops! (your name) is back, gotta go!" and hang up.

Tips

  • Some good examples are: If you call your friend as yourself and say "WHERE ARE YOU? I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU AT THE MOVIES! I HAD TO GIVE UP YOUR SEAT TO THIS SLOBBY GUY WHO FARTED HALF THE TIME!" or (this works best with a guy)"hello, I'm with (FedEx or some postal company) and we are sorry to inform you that your playboy platinum issue was returned to sender. We're going to need a new address to send this to you." Or if you call up a woman (works best if you know her boyfriend/husband is in the background) "hello Ms.(her name), we were not able to ship your items ordered from (expensive store, say Abercrombie and Fitch) which totaled $500 (and then begin to list really expensive stuff)". These are a few examples and you could make up some great ideas by yourself too.
  • Make sure you sound believable. If you tell the person you are selling them octopus tentacles, they will know that you're a fake.
  • If you call an overachieving, goody-two-shoes girl and tell her you found dirty pictures of her, she will know you're either a fake or she'll think you're a stalker. Try not to freak out the person you're calling.

Warnings

  • If you decide to call a random number, use *67 at the beginning of the number, or else you could get in a lot of trouble.
  • If you call a business, don't call a franchise because they'll save your number (even if you use *67) and you'll get in big trouble.
  • Absolutely NEVER under any circumstances make a prank call to someone who has been, is etc. physically abusive to you because while it may be fun, you will also place yourself in severe danger because your abuser at least may be able (possible) to track you down even with a *67 so please for many obvious safety reasons absolutely NEVER under any circumstances make a prank phone call to someone who has been, is etc. physically abusive to you.
  • Sometimes if you call someone you know and they figure you out, they'll call your cell or house phone to yell at you (especially if you call someone like your mom or another family member). DO NOT ANSWER THEM.
  • Absolutely NEVER under any circumstances make a prank call to 911, or any other emergency number because the delay you cause them with your fun can at least very easily be responsible for someone's death and also is extremely illegal.
