Make a Quick & Easy Alfredo Sauce
Alfredo sauce is a delicious alternative to the traditional red pasta sauce. While Alfredo sauce tastes wonderful, it is a relatively easy and inexpensive sauce to make
Ingredients
- One (1) can evaporated milk
- One (1) stick butter or margarine
- One (1) small can of Parmesan cheese
- Seasoning to taste (garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion powder, etc.)
Steps
- Pour the can of evaporated milk into a 2 quart saucepan.
- Add the stick of butter or margarine and the seasonings to the milk.
- Cook the mixture over medium-high heat until the liquid comes to a rapid boil.
- Turn off the heat and add all of the Parmesan cheese. Stir rapidly.
- Keep stirring until the cheese is melted. The sauce will thicken when this happens.
- Serve over pasta or as a tasty dip.
Tips
- As soon as the milk and butter come to a rapid boil, physically remove the pan from the heat to prevent the mixture from boiling over.
- Fresh grated Parmesan can be substituted for the canned variety.
- Spinach can be added at the same time the cheese is added to make a tasty dip.
Warnings
- When the milk and butter comes to a boil, it will bubble up very quickly. The liquid can boil over before you catch it if you aren't careful.
