Make a Quick & Easy Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo sauce is a delicious alternative to the traditional red pasta sauce. While Alfredo sauce tastes wonderful, it is a relatively easy and inexpensive sauce to make

Ingredients

  • One (1) can evaporated milk
  • One (1) stick butter or margarine
  • One (1) small can of Parmesan cheese
  • Seasoning to taste (garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion powder, etc.)

Steps

  1. Pour the can of evaporated milk into a 2 quart saucepan.
  2. Add the stick of butter or margarine and the seasonings to the milk.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium-high heat until the liquid comes to a rapid boil.
  4. Turn off the heat and add all of the Parmesan cheese. Stir rapidly.
  5. Keep stirring until the cheese is melted. The sauce will thicken when this happens.
  6. Serve over pasta or as a tasty dip.

Tips

  • As soon as the milk and butter come to a rapid boil, physically remove the pan from the heat to prevent the mixture from boiling over.
  • Fresh grated Parmesan can be substituted for the canned variety.
  • Spinach can be added at the same time the cheese is added to make a tasty dip.

Warnings

  • When the milk and butter comes to a boil, it will bubble up very quickly. The liquid can boil over before you catch it if you aren't careful.
