Make a Snow Globe With a Jar
Everyone is looking for ways to save money these days. It's time to admit it. With Christmas coming, we need a way to save money. How do you give someone a thoughtful, inexpensive gift? A snow globe of course! Sure, you can go buy a snow globe, but does that mean anything? You can make your own snow globe with items that you probably already have!
Steps
- Remove the lid from your jar.
- Glue your figurine or ornament to the inside of the lid of the jar. Find where you want to place the figurine by modeling it in different positions. Once you have found the right pose, apply your adhesive sealant to the bottom of the figurine. Then, press the figurine down onto the lid, and hold it for about 2-5 seconds depending on the size of your figurine.
- Let it dry. It should take about a day for the decoration to harden onto the lid.
- Fill the jar. Now that your adhesive sealant is dry, and your figurine is secure, it is time to fill the jar. Get bottled water, and pour the jar to the very top.
- Add the glycerin. Pour in about a dash of glycerin. A "dash", means you should just pour the bottle of glycerin for 1 second. The glycerin will let your glitter or "snow" fall down more slowly.
- Pour in some glitter. Using plastic glitter, sprinkle a small mountain of the flakes into the water. After you have a good amount of glitter, stir the contents with a small spoon to mix all the glycerin, water, and glitter.
- Fill the jar to the rim. Make sure the jar is filled to the top. That is if you don't want any air bubbles in your snow globe.
- Seal the lid. Keeping the glass jar right side up, just place your lid onto the top of the jar, and seal it. The jar might leak some at first, but that is just because it is overflowing from being filled. Once you have dried the excess water up, turn your jar over, and you have made a snow globe!
Tips
- Try not to put too much glitter because you won't be able to see your figure.
- Use bottled water for best results.
