Make a Spy Kit With Ease from Scratch

Here is how to make a spy kit easily without using that box from the store.

Steps

  1. Get a sturdy backpack that has a couple pockets on the outside. Or, you can use a large tote bag that zips on top.
  2. Get a healthy snack, such as a banana, but do not leave the peel outside!
  3. Get good running shoes, or tie up the shoes tight enough so they don't fall off when you're running. Slip-on shoes work perfectly, just make sure you can run well in them.
  4. Get some clothes on that match the environment(example snow = white or gray, trees = brown). Don't wear anything baggy or standout (such as some sweatpants or a bright orange t-shirt. Skinny jeans and a dull-color t-shirt work wonders.)
  5. Put some water in a flask or a water bottle that closes tightly.
  6. You'll need a notepad and a pencil to write your findings down!
  7. Obtain a map of your neighborhood. This is best done a week or so before the mission.
  8. Buy or make a scope. The scope can be a monocular or it can be binoculars. You can commonly get a scope at The Discovery Channel Store or your Dollar Store if you want a cheap one. Make one by taking a lens from a far sighted pair of glasses and a lens from a near sighted pair of glasses and securing them in a tube.
  9. Make a team--usually 2-8 people sometimes little is better, but on big missions you may need more people.
  10. Get some walkie-talkies, put it on a high station like 10-13. Or you can use cellphones if everyone has one. Just make sure to set it on Vibrate or Silent!
  11. Make a plan. Have a couple people in bushes, foxholes, behind small fences, in creeks, up high in trees with lots of leaves, and under leaf piles or sticks.
  12. Give each person an assigned route or hiding location, this way you'll know where everyone is instead of everyone being everywhere.
  13. Establish a captain to keep track of member locations and give orders.
  14. Practice on people like your friends or family members first, then move on to higher missions.
  15. Get half a lemon, squeeze the juice out into a jar and dip a pen into it. Start writing on a clean piece of paper, dipping the pen into the juice regularly. Let it dry, then get your mom or dad to run the iron over it. Invisible ink! Another recipe is a mixture of onion juice and vinegar. You may use a sharpened matchstick as a quill(the ink is visible when held under a direct light source i.e., flashlight).
  16. Make Id cards. Use these to make sure that no one is in disguise to steal your plans put a name code name and a number on it and if you like get some ink dab your finger in it and put it on the ID card and there is your fingerprint.

Tips

  • Be stealthy, smart, creative, and camouflaged.
  • On missions where you plan on spying on someone who knows you, get a partner. You do the spying, they do the talking if necessary.
  • You can also make a grappling hook for picking stuff up.To make it find a Lego grappling hook head, you can find them in most Lego spy sets or you can cut a piece of a wire hanger and twist it into a hook, next get some nylon string and cut it to the correct length for you.Lastly, attach the string to the head.And there you have it, your own grappling hook for picking stuff up while spying.
  • Most people think it's a good idea to read nonfiction spy books, but fiction books like Kiki Strike series teach spy tips and are quite entertaining.
  • Binoculars can help.
