Make an Origami Christmas Tree
A great project for class or at home during the Christmas season. Using the fascinating ancient art of origami, these steps will show you how to create an origami Christmas tree.
Steps
- Obtain a piece of square green origami paper, and turn the paper over so it is green side down.
- Fold in half on the diagonal.
- Unfold and fold the edge to the centre line. Then, repeat with the opposite edge.
- Fold the bottom corner up to meet the other two corners.
- Fold the bottom edges to the centre line.
- Fold the bottom section up.
- Fold the bottom edge back down to form the trunk of the tree.
- Narrow the trunk fold sideways, part of the section will lift up , encourage it to do so and squash it flat. Repeat with the other side of the trunk.
- Smooth out any rough parts of the tree. Your origami Christmas tree is now ready for display!
Tips
- Pierce a small hole through the top of the tree and hang on the branch of your real Christmas tree.
- Decorate with glitter, ribbon, stickers, sequins etc., as desired.
Warnings
- Do not over decorate it, as then it might end up not looking like a tree.
- Try not to get a paper cut while doing this.
