Meditate on Love

Our mind is constantly active. Seeking stillness within the Mind that is in motion is impossible if you do not use the motion itself. When the surface of a lake is still, we will be able to tap into the magic of super-conscious. This is impossible when the surface is agitated by waves of our thoughts, emotions, habits, fears. All through the human history various religious groups and psychologists have used Love as a focus of meditation. Love is Divine. Have you ever wondered why?[1]

Steps

  1. Train virtues. Train virtues through the development of qualities such as truthfulness, openness, honesty, compassion to all living beings. The Soul becomes intoxicated with good qualities, and you start fully and deeply loving and trusting yourself and world around you. Aristotle and Plato, named Temperance, Wisdom, Justice, and Courage as the four most desirable virtues. Faith, Hope, and Love were later adopted by the Church to form the Seven Heavenly Virtues. Virtues are developed through practice. Just as a marathon runner trains his body through lots of training, so too we train our capacity to be fair, courageous, or loving and compassionate.
  2. Do not harm. Do not harm yourself or others physically, mentally or emotionally. Do not kill. Do not lie. Do not harm other beings on Earth. This also includes control over thoughts and feelings that are driven by fear, attachment and instincts. Ahimsa (Sanskrit term) is based on an assumption that all living beings are divine and to hurt another is to hurt oneself. Ahimsa includes one's deeds, words, and thoughts. The Hindu understand this to apply to animals and all life forms.
  3. Train love. [2] Chose to love, chose to be open, chose to be happy during every single day. Give love unconditionally, without expecting something in return. Giving unconditionally brings great pleasure. Buddhist train loving kindness through:
    • Friendliness expressed as warmth that embraces others
    • Compassion expressed as empathy with other people's difficulties
    • Appreciative Joy, shown as appreciation of other people's good qualities
    • Equanimity, feeling love and kindness towards everybody, in all situations and relationships
  4. Meditation. The art of meditation is the art of stillness, the art of motion within no-motion, action within no-action. Sit still with no movements for at least 30 minutes One can use a mantra to meditate. Chant Mantras The mantra OM is a Hindu name of God. Written as A-U-M, it represents the divine energy united in its three aspects: Brahma (creation), Vishnu (preservation) and Shiva (destruction); or Buddhists will relate it to holy body, holy speech and holy mind of Buddha. A Mantra is a word or sound that is repeated, during meditation. Mantras are considered capable of creating transformation of energy / vibration into divine qualities. Mantras are used within various spiritual paths to enhance meditation or to lead to meditation. The Buddha leads us to enlightenment manifesting in the form of the mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum”... It is said that all the teachings of the Buddha are within this mantra. According to Buddhism all beings have the Buddha nature. Your ordinary body, speech and mind are purified and transform into, Buddha's holy body, holy speech and holy mind (symbolically represented by AUM). 'Thus the six syllables, OM MANI PADME HUM, mean that by the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha.'
  5. Concentrate on love. According to Aristotle, 'εὐδαιμονία' (wellbeing or long-term happiness) is achieved when during the life-time a human being achieves health, wealth, knowledge, friends and this in turn leads to the perfection of human nature. Concentrating our mind on love we allow the mind to keep ‘busy’ while we connect with our inner source of love, peace and knowledge using powerful imagery of positive imagination. Use this type of meditation:
    • Breath in and breath out the energy of love. Exercise Yoga Breathing Concentrate onto this flow for 5-10 minutes.
    • Feel the warmth of love within your heart. You can use an image to inspire you. APHRODITE was the Olympian goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and procreation. According to Plato, there are two Aphrodites, "the elder, having no mother, who is called the heavenly Aphrodite" She was depicted as a beautiful woman often accompanied by the winged godling Eros (Love). She was syncretized with the Roman goddess Venus. Her Mesopotamian equivalent is: Inanna or Ishtar‎. Aphrodite Urania (Ancient Greek: Ἀφροδίτη Οὐρανία) was an epithet of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, signifying "heavenly" or "spiritual". According to Herodotus, the Arabs called this aspect of the goddess "Alitta" or "Alilat" (Ἀλίττα or Ἀλιλάτ). Aphrodite's major symbols include myrtles, roses, doves, sparrows, and swans. Aphrodite's main cult centers were Cythera, Cyprus, Corinth, and Athens. Her main festival was the Aphrodisia, which was celebrated annually in midsummer. The cult of Aphrodite in Cyprus, was centered in the Paphos area and dates from 1,500 BC. The birthplace of Aphrodite is at Cyprus town Petra Tou Romiou. In the legend Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam and became consort of king Kinyras. There is evidence that Ishtar Astarte were worshiped in Cyprus brought to the island by the Phoenicians, along with the Egyptian cult of Hathor, who may also have been identified with Aphrodite.
    • Send the love energy to someone you really care about, your lover, your family member, your friend. Plotinus in interpreting Logos as the principle of meditation, gives methods to achieve ecstasy using Logos as the Divine Eternal Principle existing as the interrelationship between the Soul, the Spirit (nous), and the One. For Plotinus, the relationship between the three by the outpouring of Logos from the higher principle to the Soul, or by eros (loving) coming from the lower principle. Centuries later, Carl Jung Carl Jung contrasted logos vs eros represented as the alchemical Sol and Luna, science and mysticism, or conscious and unconscious. While praying for the rest of the humanity in his prayers to God, at the very end of St John, Jesus uses the same word, praying for Humanity saying John 17:20 Οὐ περὶ τούτων δὲ ἐρωτῶ μόνον, ἀλλὰ καὶ περὶ τῶν πιστευόντων διὰ τοῦ λόγου αὐτῶν εἰς ἐμέ, 20" “And not concerning these only am I making request, but also concerning the ones who through their Logos believe in me.”
    • Send the love energy to a stranger
    • Send the love energy to someone that annoys you
    • Send the energy of love to Earth and all the being on Earth
    • Send the energy of love to Universe
  6. Be love. Carl Gustav Jung (Germany 1875 – 1961) has created some of the best known psychological concepts, including synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, the psychological complex, and extraversion and introversion. “The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” “Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart." Stay practicing love, open heart, conscious relationships, explore the energy of love. Many have equated the symbolism of love with the one of "Light". In Egyptian mythology Horus was the god of light, element of AiR, often depicted as a man with the head of a Bird, falcon. Being the element of Air, Horus is the sky, his images have the sun as his right eye and the moon as his left. The sound frequency and the use of symbols within our mystical spiritual traditions, all through the centuries of our existence on this planet, carried the initiation into the altered states of consciousness, our (H}ope to transmit the spiritual energy between various levels of reality. The symbol of Ancient Egyptian Horus is „ON“.
  7. Practice every day. Practice will make your experience perfect and enrich your life.
