Open Your Above Ground Swimming Pool After Winter
To have a stress free swimming experience its important to spend a little time at the beginning of the season. Get your chemical levels right and you will have a healthy crystal clear pool.
Steps
- Drain the water off the winter debris cover and remove all leaves & debris from the top of the cover. If a cover saver was used (which siphons off excess water from the cover) this should be an easy job. Carefully roll the cover to one end and lift over the top rails, making sure no dirt or debris falls into the pool water. It is better to have at least two people to do this job.
- Reconnect and tighten all pipe work unions, reopen any flow line valves, replace any drain plugs on the pump and filter. Top up the pool water to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} above normal operating level if you have sand filtration, you can then lower the pool water to normal level by back-washing and rinsing the filter. If you have a cartridge filter system fill pool to normal operating level. Refit the Ladder to your pool. Check time clock and heater settings if you have a heater.
- Get your chemicals right for a stress free season. If you winterized correctly, balancing your chemicals and adding a long life algacide your water should be crystal clear. If you have a green pool firstly you will have to add an algae eliminator and back wash and rinse several times topping up to do a partial water change. However if you are a good pool keeper with clear water you can check and adjust the PH level to 7.5. Then Shock dose the pool with shock granules and thirdly add summer clear the long life algacide. If you are using Blue Crystal the chlorine free product you must then check and adjust the Alpha level. The last thing to do is refit your solar cover, enjoy your pool and hope for a Sunny summer.
