Open a Nokia 6230i Back Cover
Some of Nokia's phones' back covers can be difficult to open, and the process of opening is badly documented in the manual. Removing the back cover is necessary for removal of the battery or SIM card. The steps in this article are for the 6230 and 6320i models.
Steps
- Position your hands for the best grip. Hold the phone in one hand with the backside facing you. Place one thumb on the release button at the bottom of the of the cover and your other just under the groove of the camera for traction.
- Apply pressure with both thumbs simultaneously. Press the release button lightly with your thumb. Use the thumb under the camera to push the cover outwards towards the top of the phone. You should hear a click the latch if you are successful.
- Pressing the release button too hard seems to make it more difficult to unlatch, so be gentle.
- Slide to cover to remove it. The cover only has to slide a couple of millimetres; then, it can be lifted away from the phone body.
Tips
- The most common mistake is pressing the button strongly. You only need to push it down slightly.
- If you are having trouble gripping the phone, you can place a rubberband under your thumb for extra traction.
- Opening or closing the back cover the first time can difficult with new cell phones, but gets easier with time as the latch wears down a bit.
Warnings
- If you block the button down, it is possible to pull it back up using a hairpin.
- Do not try to use any tools such as screwdrivers to open the cover. You will likely damage the plastic and potentially be unable to place it back on.
