Prepare for a Sales Job Interview
At this stage you have applied for several sales jobs and have been successful in obtaining an interview. Here are some tips on preparing for the interview.
Steps
- Research the company. Research is a big part of sales jobs and doing so will demonstrate your ability to do so.
- The original advert for the job will have required skills. Make sure you read the skills required and rehearse a case study to demonstrate that you have these skills - be prepared to give examples of when.
- Presentation is key as well - even if the job you have applied for is telephone based skills, 85% of interviews will already have decided 'NO' if a scruffy applicant shows. Do not make things harder for yourself before you have started talking. A suit is the only way forward, tie included. If you are female then no short skirts, knee length should be minimum.
- Practise some answers to questions - think what they will ask, industry related and skill related and rehearse some key points. Do not over-rehearse - you don't want to sound robotic.
- Think up some questions you wish to ask - one of the key skills for any salesperson is the ability to ask questions - be prepared to demonstrate this.
- Prepare yourself to ask the question at the end of the interview "So is the job mine" Be prepared at this point to handle any objections. Always ask the question
