Program Factory Honda Acura Remote Key Fobs

Do you have new factory keyless remotes for your Acura or Honda? Reprogram up to 3 remotes yourself using these easy steps. .

Steps

  1. Gather all remotes for the vehicle on hand. You only need one remote to get into program mode but all remotes must be programmed during the same session. The car will "forget" previous remotes every time it is reprogrammed.
  2. Sit in the car with all doors/trunk tightly closed.
  3. Turn the key to the ON position, marked by “II” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights come on.
  4. Listen for a quiet click, and then within 5 seconds press the “Lock” button on the remote for 1 second.
  5. Turn the key to the LOCK position, marked by “0” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights go off. If you hear a quiet click in the dashboard after turning switch to "0" then the entire process must be restarted.
  6. Repeat three more times (for a total of 4 times).
  7. Upon the 4th turning of the key to “ON”, press the lock button on one remote, the locks will make a cycling sound (clunk), locks will NOT lock or unlock at this point, they will just make a noise. The system is now in programming mode. Do not turn key off.
  8. Within 5 seconds of entering programming mode and within 5 seconds of each other, press the lock button ON EACH remote you are programming, for a second or so and release. Each time a remote button is pushed, the locks should cycle. Up to 3 remotes can be programmed.
  9. Turn ignition completely off and remove the key.
  10. Step out of car and close door. The remotes should be programmed and work. If you have a trunk/hatch release, the button for this feature needs to be held for a few seconds before the trunk/hatch will “pop”.

Tips

  • For TL owners: After you reprogram, if the Unlock button doesn't work, you must Unlink memory seat by pressing the "Unlock" and "Lock" buttons (at same time) while pointed to the receiver.
  • You must wait for the slight clicking sound in the dash before you press the lock button on the remote.
  • If above does not work, and you’re sure remote is in good condition, try 'rebooting' the car by disconnecting one of the car's battery terminals for about 15 mins, reconnect, and try programming again.

Warnings

  • Each step must be completed within 5 seconds.
  • All the doors and rear hatch/trunk must be closed during programming.
  • All remotes have to be programmed at the same time.
