Program a New Motorola Cell Phone

How to program most Motorola cell phones made within the past 7 years.

Steps

  1. There are a few different ways to do this. Try this one:
  2. 7, 4, 6, 6, 3, #, MENU, MENU. *OR*
  3. 7, 4, 6, 6, 3, #, FNC, FNC (or on the w315 it's the C or clear, backspace key twice).
  4. If that doesn't work, try #, 0, 7, 3, 8, 8, 7, *, or MENU, 0, 7, 3, 8, 8, , 7, *.
  5. Follow on screen instructions. The second code usually allows you to get into back-door programming for things like WAP gateways or SPC codes.

Tips

  • Often, providers will put a six digit SPC (subsidy lock) code into the phone to prevent you from reprogramming it. Good luck.
  • Usually, FOUR digit security lock codes are 1234, 0000, or the last 4 digits of the cell phone's number.
  • SIX digit security codes are often 000000, 123456, or 236197.

Warnings

  • If you mess up, be prepared to shell out to have someone fix it.
