Remove Dried PVA Glue from Fabric
Dried PVA glue on fabric will harden and if you pull at it, the threads of the fabric can come unstuck, spoiling or even weakening the fabric or garment. Here is what to do to get the glue off easily.
Steps
- Boil a kettle.
- Put Remove Rubber Gloves Easily on. These are to protect your hands from the steam.
- Find the area of the fabric where the PVA glue has dried on. Get this part ready to hold in place.
- When the kettle has boiled, hold the fabric over the steam, facing the dried glue part right into the steam. Obviously, be very careful to keep your skin out of the path of the steam.
- Leave until the glue softens and looks wet or gel-like again.
- Remove from the steam. Gently pick the softened glue off with your fingers. It should be very easy to remove.
- Repeat as needed. If it's a large area, you might need to do it in several batches.
Warnings
- Obviously, be very careful when working with steam. This should only be done wearing protective gloves and by an adult.
