Remove PDFCreator Malware

If you searched SourceForge for a trusted open source PDF file creator, you may have found and installed PDF Creator. What you did not know is that you also installed a hidden malware program called "PDFforge Toolbar" which will redirect you using mybrowserbar.com or urlseek20.vmn.net. There is a simple solution.

This is not a virus, but is adware which may be removed if you prefer. Anti-Virus vendors say that the software is not-harmful, although you may classify the toolbar as potentially unwanted software.[1]

Steps

  1. Close your browser.
  2. Click "Start" and open your "Control Panel" for Windows.
  3. Click on "Programs and Features".
  4. Find the program "PDFforge Toolbar". (You do not need to uninstall the PDFCreator program!)
  5. Using the control panel, choose to uninstall the program.
  6. Restart browser. It will direct you to a page asking why you chose to uninstall, but after that it should no longer hijack you to searches and pages that you did not want.

Tips

  • It is not enough to just disable the toolbar in your browser. It must be un-installed completely.

There are also several other programs that may have installed with it. You should filter your results in the un-install menu by date (top right of the menu / chart labels), and obviously un-install them too.
