Remove a Glass Stuck Inside Another Glass (Vaseline Method)
Sometimes, especially if glasses have been stacked for too long, it can be near impossible to get them unstuck. If you've found two glasses refusing to budge, follow these steps.
Contents
Steps
- Smear vaseline around the point of contact between the two glasses, and try to tug them apart again. If this doesn't work, continue with the steps.
- Fill a bowl large enough to stand the glasses in with warm water
- Fill the inside glass with icy water and then stand the two glasses in the warm water. The icy water should cause the inside glass to contract, whilst the warm water will cause the outside glass to expand.
- Try to pull them apart again.
Tips
- Some lubrication oils, like WD-40, come with a small thin nozzle that may be used to apply lubricant closer to the glasses, leading to easier separation.
- Wash your hands after applying the Vaseline, or you won't be able to grip the glasses when you try to pull them apart.
Warnings
- Extremes of temperature can cause glass to shatter, so be careful.
